In general, casino managers plan, organize, direct, or coordinate gaming operations in a casino. They also formulate gaming policies for their area of responsibility.

Casino managers train new staff and evaluate their performance. They also resolve customer complaints regarding problems such as payout errors. Equally important, casino managers have to monitor staffing levels to insure that games and tables are adequately staffed for each shift, arranging for staff rotations and breaks, and locating substitute employees as needed. Finally, casino managers explain and interpret house rules.

Every day, casino managers are expected to be able to evaluate problems as they arise. They need to articulate ideas and problems. It is also important that they speak clearly.

It is important for casino managers to ready work schedules and station arrangements and keep attendance records. They are often called upon to maintain familiarity with all games used at a facility, as well as strategies and tricks employed in those games.
