Every day, editorial specialists are expected to be able to write clearly and communicate well. They need to read and understand documents and reports. It is also important that they see details at a very fine level of focus.

It is important for editorial specialists to inspect and approve proofs submitted by composing room before publication production. They are often called upon to talk with management and editorial staff members regarding placement and emphasis of developing news stories.
