JOB DESCRIPTION: Certified Nursing Aide
Certified nursing aides answer patients' call signals. They also furnish patients with help walking and moving in and out of bed. Equally important, certified nursing aides have to observe patients' conditions, measuring and recording food and liquid intake and output and vital signs, and report changes to professional staff. They are often called upon to turn and reposition bedridden patients, alone or with assistance, to inhibit bedsores. They are expected to clean rooms and change linens. Finally, certified nursing aides transport clients to treatment units, using a wheelchair or stretcher.
Every day, certified nursing aides are expected to be able to lift, push and move large and heavy objects. They need to listen to and understand others in meetings. It is also important that they see details at a very fine level of focus.
