Equally important, business administrators have to oversee efforts directly pertaining to making products or providing services. They are often called upon to decide on staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes. Finally, business administrators inspect financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to establish areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.

Every day, business administrators are expected to be able to listen to and understand others in meetings. They need to articulate ideas and problems.

It is important for business administrators to direct and schedule organization's financial and budget efforts to fund operations and increase efficiency. They are often called upon to formulate and direct efforts such as sales promotions, coordinating with other department heads as required. They also direct and schedule efforts of businesses or departments concerned with the production or distribution of products.
