It is important for route delivery drivers to listen to and resolve patrons' complaints regarding products or services. They are often called upon to collect money from patrons and record transactions on customer receipts. They also inform regular patrons of new products or services and price changes. They are sometimes expected to record sales or delivery data on daily sales or delivery record. Somewhat less frequently, route delivery drivers are also expected to record sales or delivery data on daily sales or delivery record.

Route delivery drivers sometimes are asked to maintain vehicles and food-dispensing equipment and clean inside of machines that dispense food or beverages.
