They also perform duties, such as greeting passengers, explaining the use of safety equipment, serving meals or beverages, or answering questions related to travel.

It is important for transportation attendants to inspect kitchens and dining areas to insure adherence to sanitation requirements. They are often called upon to open and close doors for customers.
