Security systems installers keep informed of new products and developments. They also test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications. Equally important, security systems installers have to drill holes for wiring in wall studs and floors. They are often called upon to set up or repair security systems and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans. They are expected to feed cables through access holes and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping.
