Every day, exterminators are expected to be able to understand what others are saying to them even in a noisy environment. They need to listen to and understand others in meetings. It is also important that they speak clearly.

It is important for exterminators to spray or dust chemical solutions or gases into rooms, onto clothing, furnishings or wood, and over marshlands, ditches, and catch-basins. They are often called upon to direct and/or assist other staff in treatment and extermination processes to remove and control rodents, insects, and weeds. They also drive truck equipped with power spraying machinery.
