Working professionals who want to advance in their industry may want to consider earning a postsecondary degree. However, it may be difficult to attend a traditional college while holding down a full-time job. Individuals can consider enrolling at an online college to finish their schooling and move up the career ladder.
Recently, Iowa Central College ranked second on the 2010 Guide to Online Schools list of the top online educational institutions in the country. Last year, the school ranked fourth, but moved up the list in part because of its low tuition rate. Iowa Central College students pay an average of $5,580 per year in tuition.
The school offers a wide range of degrees, ranging from criminal justice, business and information technology.
"These programs are definitely not for a student looking for an easy [way to earn a degree], but the school takes pride in knowing that their graduates are well-prepared with a quality education," said team director of enrollment, Rick Mead. "It is this type of academic care that makes Iowa Central a leading organization in online schooling"
More than 4 million students nationwide were enrolled in online classes during the 2008 academic year, according to a report by the Babson Survey Research Group and the Sloan Consortium.
